1st Gosport News Update

Hi All,

As some of you are aware we have had a busy few weekends and some more events up and coming!

First of all was the shooting competition, where one of the 1^st Gosport Cubs came 1^st – Well done!!

The scouts came in 2^nd, 4^th, 8^th and 9^th so well done to them as well!

This weekend saw the 1^st Gosport’s Christmas Fair, this was very well organised and when I popped in to say hello everyone had smiles on their faces. The fair has raised around £500. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those for turning up and digging deep and also a special thank you to those that helped and organised the event.

On Sunday there was a football and swimming competition for the scouts.

The 1^st Gosport Scouts came 1^st in the football competition, well done guys, fantastic result. Again, another thank you is needed. Unfortunately, we did not have enough to make a full team so another troop kindly lent us one of their boys, so our thanks go to the 6^th Gosport.

The swimming competition next, the 1^st Gosport came 4^th in this event, which is brilliant, well done.

I am hearing great things about the group from around the district and a lot of people commenting on how nice it is to see the 1^st Gosport competing in district events again. Thanks to a brilliant leader force and fantastic beavers, cubs and scouts.

Archery Club

To All who are over 10 years old and are interested in archery...

Gary Seymour and myself have now set up a new scout archery club, based in Gosport.

Gospot Scout Archery Club (GSAC) exists for those members of the Scout Association who wish to take their interest in archery a little further.

Gosport Scout Archery Club meets to shoot on the 2nd/3rd tuesday of each month (see meet dates) at the District Activity Centre, Clayhall Road, Gosport. 1900 hrs to 2100 hrs

Gosport 100 Camp

I would just like to thank those who attended Gosport 100 District Camp (celebrating 100 years of scouting in Gosport).

A good time was had by those who attended and hopefully it has inspired our young people to attend more camps.

I heard a lot of good feedback by other leaders, telling me how well behaved and well mannered the 1st Gosport Cubs, Scouts and Beavers are, so a big thank you and well done to all.

I would also like to thank Paul and Mat for attending the camp and looking after the few campers we had. Well done and Thank you.

I would also like to thank the 2nd Gosport Group for letting us camp with them!

1st Gosport comes 2nd

Gosport Scouts Sportsday was held on 12th July 2009 and the 1st Gosport came 2nd. Well done to those that attended and done well at the races. I have heard a lot of positive feed back that everyone who took part done really well!!! Really proud of you all and a big thank you to the parents that got involved too!!!!

1st Gosport Scouts come 4th

Sunday the 7th June was the District Raft Race Competition, held at the DHQ in Clayhall.

10 teams entered the competition in which the 1st Gosport Scouts came in on 4th place.

Well done to all that took part and the Lauren "lil Dave" and Masie from Explorer Scouts who assisted them.
